๐Celebrating Friendships Across Borders ๐

Working on an Instagram & LinkedIn post for a client about today's International Day of Friendship got me thinking about my professional journey and the incredible friendships I've developed at work. These work friendships are ๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ the treasured (historical) friends I have in ๐๐ญ๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐น from school and university, with whom I still meet regularly โค๏ธ despite the distances.
Moving to ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ โ๏ธ was a big leap into the unknown, but the warm welcomes made it feel like homeโand it remains so today. The hospitality, warmth, and openness of my Irish colleagues turned initial uncertainties into lasting friendships.
Then, ๐๐ข๐๐ข๐ง๐จ ๐จ๐ญ brought me closer to Swiss culture and allowed me to form bonds that are still precious after 16 years. Whether it was biking up to mountain huts ๐ดโโ๏ธ (realizing how much the Swiss love outdoor sports and are incredibly good at themโ ๐๐๐
๐ฐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐! ๐
๐ณ๐ถ๐ณ), working towards common goals, or sharing local culinary delights ๐ฒ, these moments created some of my most valued friendships.
Now, in the ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ณ๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ญ and working with global companies ๐, I continue to appreciate the diverse friendships that have grown deeper and more meaningful.
However, keeping old friendships and building new ones ๐ข๐ฌ๐ง'๐ญ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฒ ๐๐ญ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ. It requires dedication, cultural sensitivity, commitment, patience, and sometimes a bit of frustration. But when I meet or talk with people who have shared part of my life for over 10/15 years, I realize how worthwhile it all has been.
These journeys taught me that friendship transcends borders and languages. The professional connections I've made are not just about work; theyโve evolved into special and lasting relationships that nurture my soul.
A good working environment is invaluableโnot just for our career development, but for the friendships we build along the way. ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ ๐ฃ๐จ๐; it transforms into a shared journey with people who support us through successes and challenges.
