Once upon a time, in a bustling city in Asia, there was a company with a dream as vast as the sky. This company, let’s call it "Success Inc.", embarked on a journey with a vision to revolutionize its industry and touch the daily lives of millions… As the years passed, Success Inc. grew from a humble Asian business into an international pillar of excellence and reliability. To celebrate their 50th anniversary, they decided to capture their remarkable journey in a book that would tell their story for generations to come.

We are all storytellers; we are meaning makers. Stories are at the heart of what makes us human ❤️. That’s probably why the story of Success Inc. resonated so deeply with me when I worked on their 50th-anniversary book; it wasn’t just a compilation of facts and dates, but a living, breathing tale of dreams, struggles, and triumphs.

Working on the history book of a company means working on the lives of many different people who contributed along the road to realize the initial dream 🌠. It's the chemistry within these stories—the way they intertwine our emotions and experiences—that truly connects us. Have you ever worked on a company history book project? If not, I wish for you to get this beautiful opportunity.

Working on such a project was like gliding through time with people, smiling with them, and attentively listening to their stories, honored by the fact that they were happy and willing to share them with me.

Where to start? Well, I've tried to summarize the key phases of this very special project 😉 Who knows, maybe it will be helpful to someone else starting a similar storytelling project.

· The Quest Begins: Conceptualization 🛡️

Every great tale begins with an idea. The first step in creating the milestone history book for Success Inc. was conceptualization. The communication and leadership team gathered around a table, much like knights of old, each bringing their own perspective and memories. They discussed the core message of the book, the values they wished to highlight, and the legacy they wanted to leave behind. This stage was crucial, as it laid the groundwork for the narrative that would unfold.

· Gathering the Chronicles: Research and Data Collection 📚

With a clear concept in mind, the next step was to delve into forgotten archives and unearth old documents. I flew to Asia to interview long-tenured employees, executives, former employees who had already retired, and founders. Every anecdote, photograph, and piece of data was meticulously collected to ensure the book would capture the essence of the company's history.

This was probably the most beautiful phase of the project. Certain words pronounced by some employees still echo in my mind. As I carefully examined each photograph, the memories they encapsulated seemed to come alive: it was a moment of nostalgic peace amidst those hectic days of mine, a reminder of their strong heritage.

· Weaving the Tale: Writing and Editing ✍️

Armed with a treasure trove of information, the task of weaving the tale began. A very skilled writer took on the role of a modern-day bard, crafting chapters that flowed seamlessly from one era to the next. Her words painted vivid pictures of the company's trials and triumphs, the heroes who led the way, and the innovations that set Success Inc. apart. Through numerous drafts and revisions back and forth, we honed the manuscript to perfection, ensuring that every detail shone brightly.

· Illustrating the Saga: Design and Layout 🎨

A story as grand as Success Inc.'s deserved a presentation to match. Talented designers stepped in to bring the narrative to life visually. They worked on the book's layout, selecting fonts, colors, and imagery that reflected the company's brand and history. Photographs were carefully chosen and placed, timelines were crafted, and infographics were created to enhance the reader's experience. The result was a visually stunning book that complemented the written word.

· The Final Chapter: Printing and Distribution 📦

With the manuscript complete and the design finalized, it was time for the grand unveiling. The book was sent to the printer, where it was transformed from digital files into a tangible artifact. Bound in elegant covers, each copy was a testament to Success Inc.'s fifty years of hard work and dedication. The distribution phase followed, ensuring that every stakeholder, employee, and partner received a copy, spreading the story far and wide.

· The Legacy Lives On 🌟

As the book found its way into the hands of readers, it did more than just recount the past; it inspired new leaders and innovators on their own journeys. And so, the tale of a once-modest company, which dared to dream big, continued to be told, reminding everyone of the power of perseverance, vision, and unity, “Ad unum omnes”.

I still have my own copy of the Company History Book with “Project by: Giulia BORATTO in it—a reminder of how lucky I have been to lead another truly inspirational project.

Whenever I am short of inspiration, I flip through its pages, and remember that every great story starts with 'Once upon a time...' And even if it might not always end with a smile, we can always learn from each other and be inspired by people’s stories of perseverance, passion, and courage!
